Who this is for

Any UK sole trader, tradesperson or small business owner who needs cards in hand this week — plumbers, electricians, sparkies, gardeners, cleaners, mobile groomers, barbers, consultants. If you've been quoting jobs off the back of a scrap of paper, a proper card with a scannable QR to your website makes you look booked-up and professional for the price of a sheet of card. Want the same QR code on a van, poster or invoice too? The QR code maker generates one on its own for a link, Wi-Fi, vCard, text or phone number.

What should go on a business card?

Front: your name, what you do, your business name and the three ways people actually contact you — phone, email and website. Keep it to those. A cluttered card gets binned; a clear one gets kept by the phone. The back is your spare space: a short tagline that says why to pick you, and a QR code that does the work of getting them to your site or into their contacts with one tap.

Should a business card have a QR code?

Yes — it's the single most useful thing you can add. Point it at your website and a customer scans it at the door instead of typing your name into Google (and maybe finding a competitor). Or point it at a "Save my contact" vCard so your number lands in their phone under the right name, ready for the next emergency call-out. Both beat hoping they'll remember to type anything.

Tip: a card's QR code and website only pull their weight if there's a decent site on the other end. A blurry Facebook page or a "coming soon" holding page wastes the scan. A fast, tidy website that answers "can they do my job and how do I book them?" is exactly what BuildMeA builds for UK trades.

Does this tool store my details?

No. Everything — the design, the print sheets and the PNG — is built entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded, saved or sent anywhere, so you can make and print as many cards as you like.

Please note: this tool gives a guide or estimate only. It may not be 100% accurate and is not professional advice — always check the figures before you rely on them. Your name, business details and card wording stay in your browser — nothing you type here is uploaded or stored by us. The PNG export is a screen-resolution image, not a print-shop-ready file — if you're using a professional printer, check their bleed, format and resolution requirements first.
