UK Holiday Entitlement Calculator
By law almost every UK worker gets at least 5.6 weeks' paid holiday a year. Work out what you're actually owed — whether you're full-time, part-time on set days, or on irregular / casual hours — in a few seconds.
5 days/week × 5.6 weeks, capped at the 28-day statutory maximum.
This is the legal minimum — your contract may offer more. Statutory paid holiday is capped at 28 days a year, even if you work 6 or 7 days a week.
Who this is for
Any UK worker or employer who needs to check paid holiday entitlement — full-time staff, part-timers on set days, and people on irregular, casual or zero-hours arrangements. It uses the statutory 5.6-week minimum and the 12.07% accrual rule that apply to almost all workers (a few groups, such as the genuinely self-employed and some armed-forces roles, are treated differently).
How much holiday am I legally entitled to?
Almost every UK worker is legally entitled to at least 5.6 weeks of paid holiday a year. For someone working a 5-day week that works out at 28 days (5 × 5.6). The 5.6 weeks is a statutory minimum — your employer can offer more, but not less — and the paid amount is capped at 28 days a year, so working 6 or 7 days a week does not push the legal minimum above 28.
How do I work out holiday for a part-time worker?
Multiply the number of days worked per week by 5.6. So someone working 3 days a week is entitled to 16.8 days a year (3 × 5.6), and a 4-day week gives 22.4 days. Some employers round part-day figures up (never down) for simplicity. If your workplace offers more than the statutory 28 days full-time, pro-rata it instead — divide the days worked per week by 5 and multiply by the full-time allowance — which is why this tool lets you edit the full-time figure.
What is the 12.07% holiday rule?
For workers with irregular hours, casual or zero-hours contracts, holiday is worked out as a percentage of the hours actually worked rather than a fixed number of days. The figure is 12.07%, because the 5.6 weeks of statutory holiday is 12.07% of the 46.4 working weeks in a year (5.6 ÷ 46.4). So for every hour worked, roughly 7.25 minutes of paid holiday is earned — 100 hours worked accrues about 12.07 hours of holiday.
