Who this is for

How big a discount should I offer?
Enough to move stock or footfall, not so much it looks desperate or trains customers to wait for sales. 10–20% works well for a seasonal clear-out; 25%+ suits genuine end-of-line or clearance stock. Whatever the number, put it in the headline — "20% OFF" outperforms "reduced prices" every time because people can do the maths at a glance.
How long should a sale poster run?
Short and dated beats open-ended. "This weekend only" or a specific date range creates urgency and gives you a natural point to take the poster down and refresh it. An undated "SALE" sign that's been in the window for six months stops working — customers assume it's always on and stop reading it.
