Cyber Essentials Certification in Newhaven
Achieve UK government-backed cyber security certification, required for government contracts and an increasing number of tenders.
Working with Newhaven businesses week in, week out — near Newhaven Fort or anywhere across the wider area.
The Problem
being unable to bid for government contracts or certain tenders because you don't hold Cyber Essentials certification, and not knowing where to start.
What I Do
a guided Cyber Essentials certification process: gap assessment, remediation against the five controls, questionnaire completion, and submission to an IASME-accredited certifying body so you get the badge and win more contracts.
Why Newhaven Businesses Choose Local Support
Newhaven's mix of port-related businesses and firms working out of the industrial estate near Newhaven Fort are exactly the kind of suppliers that larger commercial clients and public-sector buyers now expect to hold Cyber Essentials. It isn't a manufacturing or logistics-specific standard: it's five general IT controls, covering firewalls, device configuration, user access, malware protection, and patching, applied to whatever office and warehouse systems your BN9 business runs. I carry out the readiness assessment, fix what's needed, and submit your self-assessment to an accredited certifying body.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Cyber Essentials cover warehouse or industrial systems?
It covers whatever internet-connected devices and accounts are in scope for your business, including office PCs on the industrial estate. Purely operational machinery without network access generally sits outside scope; I'll confirm exactly what applies during the assessment.
How much is the certification fee?
The IASME certifying body charges around £300 for the basic certification. This is separate from my preparation fee and is paid directly to the certifying body.
What if I fail the self-assessment?
Most businesses need some remediation first. I identify the gaps in advance and fix them before you submit, so you pass first time.
How long is the certification valid?
12 months. It needs annual renewal. I support the renewal process each year so it doesn't lapse.
Is Cyber Essentials Plus different?
Cyber Essentials is self-assessed. Cyber Essentials Plus involves an external technical audit. I support both; the right level depends on your contract requirements.
