Who this is for
Personal trainers, sports coaches, massage and sports therapists, counsellors, and tutors who sell blocks of sessions rather than pricing every visit individually. A package needs a discount big enough to look like a genuine deal, without cutting so deep it stops being worth your time.
How big should the discount be?
Most session-based businesses land somewhere between 8% and 15% off the standard rate for a package. Enough that the client notices the saving and commits upfront, but not so much that ten sessions at the discounted rate barely beats what you'd earn from a handful of one-off bookings.
Should I still track my cost per session?
Yes, even roughly. Room hire, travel, consumables and admin time all eat into a package price the same way they eat into a single session — the discount comes out of your margin, not out of thin air. Entering a cost per session shows you the real profit left once the discount is applied.
What if a client doesn't use all the sessions?
That's a business-policy question this calculator doesn't answer — decide your own expiry and refund terms separately. What it does show is the price and per-session rate assuming the full package is delivered, which is the number your terms should be built around.
Does this include VAT?
No. Enter your prices as you actually charge them (VAT-inclusive or exclusive, whichever you use day to day) — the calculator just applies the discount and per-session maths on top of whatever figures you put in.
