Who this is for
Any UK café, pub, restaurant or deli that runs a changing specials list and is currently doing it on a whiteboard, a laminated sheet from three years ago, or not at all. This turns "what's the specials board look like today" into a two-minute job: type in today's dishes and prices, print it or save the image, done before service starts.
Why does a specials board work so well?
It does two jobs at once. It signals freshness — "today's" implies someone in the kitchen made a decision this morning, which reads as more considered than a laminated menu. And it narrows choice: five options is easier to decide between than forty, so tables that were undecided move faster, and specials usually carry a better margin than the printed menu anyway.
How many specials should I list?
Three to five is the sweet spot. Fewer than three looks thin; more than five and it stops reading as "specials" and starts reading as "the actual menu," which undermines the urgency. This tool caps you at five for exactly that reason.
Does this tool store my details?
